Flexible field emitters from Au-and Al-doped graphene: Effect of work function on field emission property |

We introduce a new and straightforward method in the fabrication of graphene-based flexible field emitters on polycarbonate (PC) substrate through the thermal welding without the assistance of an adhesive layer. After the welding, graphenes as the emitters are well aligned in the vertical direction and show strong adhesion to the substrate under various bending and stretching conditions. The density and vertical length of the graphene emitters are controlled by welding conditions such as temperature, pressure, time, and species of the polymer substrate. Moreover, we introduce chemical dopants that modulate the electronic properties of graphene emitters. The work function and electrical resistance of graphene are modulated by the electron donating aluminum ions or withdrawing gold ions. We demonstrate that field emission properties are strongly influenced by this chemical doping. |
