Iontophoresis is the process of introducing ionic drugs into the body for therapeutic purposes. Iontophoresis of ionized drugs provided a 10~50 fold increase in penetration over topical application. The aim of this work was to study the factors affecting transdermal iontophoretic delivery preparations of peptide drug and bisphosphonates for treatment of osteoporosis. Iontophoretic delivery was optimized by evaluating the effect of current density, pH of the drug solution, penetration enhancers, time of current application and donor concentration. |
