The dispersion of Ni-Zn type ferrite in Polyphenyleneoxide (PPO) and electromagnetic properties of their composites are investigated with respect to the wrapping of Ni-Zn type ferrite into PPO. The wrapping of Ni-Zn type ferrite is carried out by the precipitation process, where the solution composed of Ni-Zn type ferrite, PPO and toluene is dropped into methanol as a poor solvent for PPO. The wrapping efficiency is analyzed in terms of the concentration of each component in toluene, dropping speed of the solution into methanol, and so on. The PPO composites filled with previously PPO-wrapped Ni-Zn type ferrite show lower loss tangent than composites filled with pristine Ni-Zn type ferrite because of the better dispersion of Ni-Zn type ferrite and lower electromagnetic loss of PPO-wrapped Ni-Zn type ferrite. It is seen that the wrapping of Ni-Zn type ferrite could enhance the degree of dispersion of Ni-Zn type ferrite in PPO matrix and thus the electromagnetic properties of composite. |
