제목 Atherosclerosis targeted MR imaging using a dextran encrusted magnetic nanoclusters.
초록 Dextran encrusted magnetic nanoclusters (DMNCs) are synthesized by one-pot solution phase method for atherosclerosis targeted detection through magnetic resonance (MR) imaging. Pyrenyl dextran is employed as a surfactant due to its electron stabilizing effect and amphiphilic nature, rendering the DMNCs stable and water dispersible. DMNCs are 65.6 ± 4.3 nm with narrow size distribution and superparamagnetism with high magnetization value of 60.1 emu/g. Furthermore, they exhibit biocompatibility even at a high concentration of 9.0 mgFe/ml as well as high cellular uptake efficiency entrenched in the strong interaction of dextran with the macrophages. The in vivo MR imaging asserts their ability as efficient MR imaging contrast agents capable of atherosclerosis targeted detection. Considering these results, DMNCs can be exercised as capable MR imaging contrast agents for the detection of various inflammatory diseases.
