Approaching energy crisis due to being exhausted petroleum resources, the environment is contaminated by global warming from carbon dioxide emissions. In the connection, there has been increasing interest in biodiesel as one of alternative energies. The biodiesel is multi-component mixture consisting of various fatty acid alkyl ester. However, according to ratio of saturated fatty acid alkyl ester to unsaturated fatty acid alkyl ester in biodiesel, eutectic temperature is changed. In this study, solid-liquid equilibrium was made for binary mixture of main fatty acids which use feedstock of biodiesel. When the mixture is crystallization, using the latent heat, the freezing point was measured. Then, solid-liquid equilibrium curves and non-ideality of each mixture were presented. |
