The transesterification, using base catalyst, is most commonly used because of fast response time, but this method need to water washing process that causes increased cost and emulsions formation. However, using the enzyme in the biodiesel production can be avoided soap formation, non polluting and easier purification. In this study, the transesterification was performed using canola oil, methanol and enzyme. We tried to suggest the optimum conditions by defining the operating variables, such as methanol/oil mole ratio, reaction temperature, time and amount of enzyme(wt%). |
