제목 Fluoro-functionalization of N-isopropylacrylamide-based polymer for LCST Control and Phase Transition Behaviors
초록 Poly(N-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAm) is a presentative thermo-responsive polymer (TRP) which shows lower critical solution temperature (LCST) around 32℃​. Because it is necessary to control the LCST to expand the applicable window, many researchers have tried to introduce hydrophilic or hydrophobic groups in to the NIPAm-based polymers. In this study, PNIPAm derivatives with fluorinated functional groups were synthesized and their temperature-dependent phase behaviors were analyzed. LCSTs of PNIPAm derivatives with hydrophilic moiety were controlled in the ranges of 2-10℃​ according to the content of the attached fluorinated group. In addition, they were observed that the effect of the fluorinated group is quite drastic to change phase transition behaviors of the PNIPAm derivatives in aqueous solution. We expect that these fluorinated TRPs can be applied in various fields such as smart windows and biomedical technology.
