We investigated the effect of chitosan concentrations on the emulsion properties of hybrid chitosan/acrylic emulsion by emulsion polymerization. Methyl methacrylate (MMA) as a monomer and 2,2-azobis (2-amidinopropane) dihydrochloride (AAPH) as a cation initiator were used on the emulsion polymerization. The properties were analyzed by measuring viscosity, pH, particle size and zeta potential. The viscosity and pH increased with increasing chitosan concentrations. The particle size increased with increasing chitosan concentrations from 0% to 0.8%, and after then decreased when the concentration was 1.0%. The zeta potential decreased with increasing chitosan concentrations. |
