제목 A DOPA-Fe3+ gelatin hydrogel as a tissue adhesive
초록 Tissue adhesives have been widely used in clinics as wound closure devices, hemostatic agents, and tissue sealants to control blood loss and promote tissue healing. Here we present human gelatin tissue adhesive hydrogels prepared by enzyme-mediated biosynthesis of DOPA and Fe3+ ion crosslinking. The human adipose derived gelatin had highly purified protein content and abundant tyrosine residue. The tyrosine residues in gelatin were simply converted to DOPA by tyrosinase reaction and the DOPA-modified gelatin formed an elastic, sticky hydrogel with the addition of Fe3+ ions. These DOPA-Fe3+ gelatin hydrogels showed excellent hemostatic ability in the in vivo hemorrhaging liver rat model as well as good mechanical properties, stability, biocompatibility in vitro. The human gelatin hydrogels prepared by a simple and bio-inspired method would be useful as a tissue adhesive for a variety of surgical applications.
