Feasibility of Lithium Storage on Inactive Transition Metal by Nano-size Effects |
초록 |
Although the transition metal oxides have been attracted to the alternative anode materials, their reaction mechanism in the Li-ion batteries is ambiguous. Nearly all transition metal oxides as anode materials have been found to accompany specific excess Li storage over theoretical capacity calculated on the intercalation, conversion, and alloying reaction during electrochemical cycling. In order to understand the origin of the additional capacity, it was focused on either a by-product of the conversion and alloying reaction or a particle surface, not core. The nano-sized materials could show the different electrochemical behavior contrary to what the bulk could offer. Particularly, the formation of nano-sized metal below 5nm by the conversion reaction would give a chance to change the characteristic of the metal particles. When reducing the particle size below 5nm, unexpected structural change occurs on the particle core. More detailed discussion will be presented on meeting. |
