Hydrogel and liquid metal have been emerging as promising candidates for self-healing electronics. Here, a simple fabrication procedure of custom-designed hydrogel-liquid metal composite and its application are demonstrated. Due to their mechanical compatibility, liquid metal is used as electric filler in hydrogel. Hydrogel pattern filled with liquid metal is designed by 3D printed molds. To improve lifetime of hydrogel in ambient condition, several kinds of protective coatings are applied on hydrogel surface. Finally, the hydrogel-liquid metal composite is utilized as self-healable electrodes for customizable multi modular sensors and biosignal detection. The demonstrated hydrogel-liquid metal composite provides an opportunity to realize practical advance in self-healable electronics. |
