제목 The effect of the molecular weight of UHMWPE powder on MMA/xylene surface modification
초록 In the previous study, it was confirmed that the mechanical, chemical, and thermal properties of bone cement impregnated MMA/xylene surface-treated 3 wt% UHMWPE powder was better than those of self curing PMMA bone cement. On the basis of those results, the purpose of the present study is the comparison of mechanical, chemical and thermal properties on the molecular weight of UHMWPE powder. The used molecular weight of UHMWPE powder was 3,800,000 and 8,000,000 g/mol. The three properties were confirmed through UTM, FTIR-ATR, SEM, and digital thermomether. It was investigated that the more the molecular weight of UHMWPE powder increases, the more the mechanical properties decrease because of weak surface modification by means of the chain length of UHMWPE powder. However, it can be suggested that the molecular weight has little influence on the thermal properties.
