The UV curing behavior and properties of polyester acrylate/clay nanocomposites composed of polyester acrylate oligomer, HDDA, I907 and organoclay were investigated. Properties of the nanocomposites made from three different organoclay were compared in terms of thermal stability, mechanical properties, transmittance and morphologies. Except for Cloisite 20A, siloxane diamine-montmorinonite, N-vinylbenzyl N,N-dimethyl-N-dodecyl ammonium-montmorinonite were prepared by ion exchange method. The photoinitiated polymerization reaction was investigated by FTIR spectroscopy and shown to proceed extensively conversion within a few seconds of UV-irradiation. The structures of the nanocomposites were investigated by XRD and TEM. The mechanical, thermal properties of the nanocomposites were examined using a UTM, TMA, TGA. |
