Control of Dispersion Characteristics of functionalized nanocomposite particles for electronic paper display |

The dispersion of functionalized nanocomposite particles for the electronic paper display was studied. Dispersion polymerization of rutile titanium oxide with styrene and methacrylic acid monomers was carried out to produce the electrophoretic nanoparticles. The nanoparticles with various surface charge densities were prepared by controlling the content of methacrylic acid. To fabricate the electronic ink, OLOA 1200 steric stabilizer and nonionic surfactant are added to a low dielectric constant organic media suspendied the white functionalized nanoparticle as an electronic paper pigment. We characterized the dispersion stability of the pigment nanoparticle in dielectric fluid, focusing on the particle mobility and particle surface charge densities. Particle mobility was analyzed by measuring the zeta potential. The optical contrast and the operating velocity of particles in a microcapsule were measured. |
