Alkyl side-chain engineering has shown considerable potential for the development of high-performance photovoltaic polymers because their crystallinity in the solid state, and solubility in organic solvents are directly controlled by the characteristics of the alkyl side chains of the polymer backbone. In this work, We reported two high-efficiency, low band gap pyrrolo-perylene polymers with different alkyl side chains. The replacement of a 2-decyltetradecyl side chain with a longer 7-decylnonadecyl side chain resulted in significant changes in the crystallization characteristics, optoelectronic properties, and morphological structure of the polymers, and the photovoltaic performance of the two polymers’ organic solar cell devices. |
