This study proposes a new estimation procedure for VLE NRTL binary interaction parameters using commonly ignored condition of phase separation, minimum Gibbs free energy of mixing at the interface of separated phases. The detailed computation procedure was expalined, and the performance of newly computed parameters was evaluated with 17 VLE systems. It was found that the deviation from the measured vapor composition was 15% less compared with that predicted when using previously reported parameters estimated using the conventional method of minimizing the composition and temperature deviation only. |
