Poly(urethane-co-urea) (PUU) is one of versatile polymers for automotive parts, coating, and adhesive for various substrates as the physical properties of PUU can be varied with a wide range of raw materials and processing parameters. Generally, processing of PUU is difficult due to the fast gelation reaction during the cure by the chain extender. To solve this problem, frequently the reactivity of isocyanate in the PUU prepolymer may be depressed employing blocking agents such as phenol, alcohol, amine, oxime etc. Isocyanates in blocked form can be regenerated by dissociation at elevated temperature and the curing reaction can be proceeded. Most of blocking agents in the previous studies were monofunctional. In this study, the effect of the difunctional blocking agent in PUU prepolymer system was studied to improve the processabilities of PUU. Physical properties of PUU after cure were also investigated. |
