Enhancement of Photoluminescence of Polythiophene Nanoparticles on Size Effect and Film Formation for EL Device Materials |

The preparation of polythiophene nanoparticles were successfully carried out using SDS or PSS as a surfactant by Fe3+-catalyzed oxidative polymerization in aqueous medium. The UV-visible absorption and photoluminescence properties of the poythiophene nanoparticles prepared using SDS or PSS were investigated. As the concentration of surfactant increase, the size of polythiophene nanoparticles decreased. The increase of the intensity of PL was observed as the size of PT nanoparticles decrease. Photoluminescence quantum yield of PT nanoparticles also showed the enhancement as the size diminish. The nitration of PT nanoparticles gave soluble nitrated polythiophene in THF, DMF and DMSO. The MW value of the nitrated PT nanoparticles decreased a slightly as the size of PT decrease. Also PT nanoparticles prepared using PSS were directly used to make film without dissolving any organic solvent by annealing at 150℃. And these film showed the PL intensity at 580 nm excitation wavelength. |
