Polyimides with low CTE and good adhesion property were prepared from rigid-rod type dianhydrides, diamine and a monomer with phosphine oxide group, such as 1-phenyl pyromellitic dianhydride (PPMDA), 1-(4’-trifluoromethylphenyl) pyromellitic dianhydride (3FPPDA), para-phenylene diamine (pPDA), and bis(3-aminophenyl)phenyl phosphine oxide (mDAPPO). The polyimides were synthesized via a conventional two-step process; preparation of poly(amic-acid), followed by solution imidization and were designed to have a molecular weight of 25,000 g/mol. The polyimides were characterized by FT-IR, NMR, DSC and TGA, and intrinsic viscosity, solubility and CTE were measured. Adhesion properties of polyimides were also evaluated via T-Peel test with silane/Cr-coated Cu foils. |
