Finding an effective way to remove trace organic compounds (TORC) is a significant issue to secure high-quality and safe water resources. Advanced water treatment technologies using reverse osmosis (RO) and nanofiltration (NF) membranes have proven effective for removing TOrC. However, the exact TOrC removal mechanisms of RO/NF membranes remain unclear. In order to solve this problem, it is necessary to secure and analyze removal data for as many TOrC as possible by limiting it to a separation membrane having similar characteristics. This presentation will discuss the factors that could determine the TOrC separation performance of the fully-aromatic polyamide-based tight RO/NF membranes. In addition, future research directions for improving the TOrC separation performance of the current RO/NF membranes will also be proposed. |
