Influence of surface free energy of carbon black on mechanical properties of carbon black/rubber composites |

In this work, the different carbon blacks were added to natural rubber (NB). The influence of type of carbon blacks inthe carbon black/natural rubber (NR) composites on the mechanical properties were investigated. Adsorption and surface properties of carbon black wereexamined using BET isotherms and X-ray diffraction (XRD). Tensile strength and tearing energy (GIIIC) of carbon black/NR composites were measured. As a result, it was found that mechanical properties of carbon black/NR composites were improved by the increase of london dispersive component of surface free energy of the carbon blacks. |
