The infectious bacteria has recently been recognized as a serious disease that becomes resistant to antibiotics. Therefore, the rapid and differential detection of bacterial species would minimize the overuse of antibiotics and the spread of antibiotics resistance. Herein, we introduce a method utilizing a fluorescent derivative of colistin (COL-FL) that directly label on outer-membrane of Gram-negative bacteria. Using the COL-FL assay, we achieved the differential fluorescence assay of various Gram-negative bacteria within 10 min, which could be subsequently detected via spectrofluorometry and microscopy. |
