Multiple-Gold Core-Silica Shell Nanowires (Multi-Au@SiO2 NWs) were fabricated in a high yield through reverse (water-in-oil) microemulsion based method. Multi-Au@SiO2 NWs were synthesized through the reduction of Au3+ ions (from HAuCl4) during the formation of silica nanoparticles in the reverse microemulsion, which were generated using Brij35 as the surfactant. Importantly, no other reducing agent was used during synthesis. In addition, Hollow multi-Au@SiO2 NWs with “yolk-shell” morphology were fabricated as-prepared multi-Au@SiO2 NWs at high temperatures in aqueous polyvinylpyrrolidone solution. Hollow multi-Au@SiO2 NWs have been characterized through UV-Vis spectroscopy, BET, PXRD and high resolution TEM images. |
