Poly(vinylidene fluoride) (PVDF) have recently highlighted in fiber industry due to their chemical durability and stain resistance. In order to increase productivity, melt flow rate (MFR) should be adjusted in the polymerization process while mechanical properties of PVDF fiber are affected by both polymerization and fiber manufacturing process. In this research, vinylidene fluoride (VDF) was polymerized by suspension polymerization to increase crystallinity of PVDF. The reaction temperature and pressure was monitored during polymerization. The obtained PVDF is characterized with nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), gel permeation (GPC), scanning electron microsope (SEM), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and universal testing machine (UTM). |
