Conductive polymers can be used in the field of plastic storage battery, transistor, polymer LED, smart window, chemical sensor, and EMI shielding. However, the applications are restricted due to the defects of the very weak mechanical, poor processing, and solubility property in conductive polymers. As the method to overcome these defects, it has been reported the modification of monomer, formation of composite of common polymers and conductive polymers, and synthesis of coductive copolymers. In this study we prepared polystyrene/polyanline blends by insitu emulsion polymerization synthesis methods. First of all, polystyrene/NMP solution is added to aniline/water solution drop by drop, during while transparent solution became opaque. In the next step, oxidant/water solution is added to polystyrene/aniline emulsion solution at 0 ℃ drop by drop with stirring and synthesis is in progress. We prepared the blends with various composition and measured their morphological and electrical properties. Conductivity measurements showed the conductivity of blends prepared in this way is higer than that of PS/PANi melt blends.
