Manufacturing aligned porous materials has been important to improve the properties of polymers such as membrane filtration. Furthermore, manufacturing membranes by uniformly blending inorganic and organic materials has been useful to control the filtration performance. In this study, silica nanoparticles are homogeneously embedded in polycarbonate using a directional melt crystallization method. Using this method, silica nanoparticles are successfully embedded in the pore walls of polycarbonate, which enables to control several properties such as hydrophilicity and lipophobicity. This method can be adapted as a novel way of blending inorganic and organic material. |
