Influence of compatibilizer on thermal and mechanical properties of PLA/PP blending System |

The effects of compatibilizer on thermal and mechanical properties of polylactic Acid(PLA) 20wt% / Polypropylene(PP) 80wt% blending system were studied as a function of compatibilizer content varying in the range of 2 to 10 phr. The PLA/PP blending systems containing different content of compatibilizer were prepared by using an extrusion molding technique at the extrusion temperature of 210°C. The compatibilizer used in this experiment is BPMS-250 which is a commercial grade. To investigate the thermal properties of PLA/PP blending systems containing compatibilizer DSC and TGA analysis methods were employed. For mechanical properties tensile and flexural tests were carried out. All the property data are presented and interpreted in terms of compatibilizer content. The research was supported by a grant from the Academic Research Program of Chungju National University in 2011. |
