The roles of the carbon black support of the silver/carbon electrocatalyst for CO2 reduction to CO |

Electrocatalytic CO2 conversion is regarded as a promising way to cope with the climate crisis since highvalue-added chemicals can be produced by the process in mild conditions. A simple and effective way to improve the catalyst performance is by introducing thecarbon support materials, as they have been observed to generate high surfacearea, excellent dispersion of active site, and fast mass transport. In this study, silver, a representative metal for producing CO by electrocatalytic CO2 conversion, was loaded on the carbon black support. The silver/carbon catalysts with different ratios were synthesized by ultrasonic spray pyrolysis. Further, the roles of the carbon support on the physicochemical and electrochemical properties were identified by controlling silver-carbon ratios and the amount of the binder. The experimental results indicated that carbon black is the effective support material for the CO2 electroreduction reaction. |
