Polymer solar cells (PSCs) have attracted considerable academic and commercial interest because of their unique advantages, such as the facile manufacture of low cost, flexibility, lightweight, and solution processibility. In this work, we report a novel series of thiazolothiazole-based copolymers for use as donor materials in polymer solar cells. The effect of the different donor segments on the optical and electrochemical properties, field-effect carrier mobilities, and photovoltaic characteristics of the resulting thiazolothiazole-based copolymers were investigated systematically. Our results provide useful guideline for controlling the optical and electrochemical properties and the field-effect carrier mobilities by replacing the donor segments with different electron-donating moieties for the design of photovoltaic materials. |
