Synthesis of air-operating PEDOT actuator based on PB-PEO network |

The air operating actuator is synthesized by using the interpenetrating polymer networks of the conducting polymer and the solid electrolyte supports which the mechanical properties are enhanced. The rubber(PB) and the polymer electrolyte(PEO), which have the different condition and the mechanism of polymerization are mixed homogeneously and crosslink. After that, the conducting polymer, such as PEDOT and PPy can penetrate into the supporter and be polymerized. The interface of the conducting polymer and the IPN is detected by EDS and SEM. The surface resistance is low owing to the large penetrating depth of conducting polymer. Varying the PB ratio of IPN, the bending force of actuation can be controlled. The IPN actuator may show better actuation force compared with PAN-co-PB actuator which is commercially available. |
