Preparation of proton exchange membranes based on ionic liquid/triazole/PEG for PEM fuel cells |

Polymer electrolyte membranes containing mixtures of PEGDA, triazole and room temperature ionic liquids imbibed in a microporous PVDF support were prepared. The ionic liquid was introduced to help the powdery triazole to be the liquid state for both higher ionic conductivity and better penetration of the triazole into the PVDF pores. The proton conductivity increases with the amount of the triazole and temperature as expected, and the maximum ionic conductivity was as high as 6.9 x 10-3 S/cm at 130℃ under low humidified conditions. The obtained results suggested that the proton exchange membranes comprising the mixtures imbibed in the PVDF could be utilized as an alternative PEMs for fuel cells. |
