Polyelectroltye multilayers (PEMs) became very powerful method and have been applied in many applications. Recent studies in PEMs are more toward creating complex hybrid nanocomposites. Here, we report polyelectrolyte multilayers containing non-conventional linear polymers but anisotropic metal particles or colloids. Especially in the case of gold nanoparticles (AuNP), they have many advantages for bio-application, which are stability, biocompatibility, easy reactivity and optical properties. We have synthesized gold nanoparticle-polyelectrolyte hybrid films using layer-by-layer process. Non-spherical gold nanoparticles which have functionalized with carboxyl groups were used to assemble with polyelectrolytes having the opposite charges. We also examined the micro-patternability of these particles, which can be applied for biosensor application. |
