Ni-YSZ based Tri-Reforming Catalyst for the Production of Synthesis gas |

The tri-reforming reaction of methane over Ni-YSZ-CeO2 catalyst was carried out to produce a synthesis gas with reduction of greenhouse gas. The Ni-YSZ-CeO2 catalysts before and after the reaction were characterized by N2 physisorption, CO chemisorption, XRD, TEM, SEM and Elemental analysis. It was found that the tri-reforming reaction was a desirable process for the production of synthesis gas more than the catalytic reforming. It was also found that Ni-YSZ-CeO2 catalyst in the tri-reforming of CH4 was showed higher catalytic activity and stability than commercial Holder Torpsoe and ICI catalysts. The results suggest that the synthesis gas produced by the tri-reforming of CH4 over Ni-YSZ-CeO2 catalyst can be applied to the production of high valued chemicals and the fuel processor of SOFC and MCFC systems. |
