제목 Turbostratic nanoporous carbon sheets membranes with ultrafast permeance for green solvent nanofiltration
초록 Using viscous green solvents such as ethanol or isopropyl alcohol (IPA) in organic solvent nanofiltration (OSN) has been emerged due to its sustainability. However, existing membrane for OSN including polymer membrane has been suffered from low solvent permeance due to strong interaction between membrane materials and solvent molecules. Herein, we developed a high-performance OSN membrane by stacking turbostratic nanoporous carbon sheets (TNCS) fabricated by rapid thermal treatment. The resulting TNCS membrane exhibits ultrafast and selective IPA nanofiltration performance, as reflected by IPA permeance of 1800 L m-2 h-1 bar-1 with molecular weight cut-off (MWCO) of 600 Da. It far exceeds the upper bound of existing IPA nanofiltration permeance by two orders, showing sharp separation of viscous solvent and molecules below 600 Da from larger molecules. Therefore, it is expected to improve OSN performance with viscous green solvents in chemical, food, and pharmaceutical industries.
