Graphene Oxide (GO) laminate is a promising membrane because of high permeation, molecular sieving, chemical and mechanical stability, which are required for practical water treatments. However, hydrophilic surface of GO is easy to induce delamination in the aqueous media, hindering practical applications. In order to stabilize GO film, polymer support was functionalized with branched polyethyleneimine (BPEI), and then adsorbed BPEIs were intercalated into GO sheets as GOs were stacked via filtration. GO/BPEI membrane showed highly enhanced stability in water of broad pH range during sonication. Furthermore, the filtration performance of GO film is not hindered by the BPEI treatment, dispalaying high rejection (> 90%) for dye molecules with enhanced permeation compairing to that of GO membrane. Because this method can stablize the GO membrane as preserving the excellent filtration performance, graphene oxide membrane may be feasible in the real practical filtration applications. |
