Self-photoinitiating silicone acrylate (SPSA) have been developed specifically to meet the demanding product performance needs of color contact lenses. UV curable hydrogel formulations containing SPSA were designed to improve various properties including mechanical strength, transparency, pigment wetting, swelling, and curing. In this work, curing behaviors of UV curable hydrogel formulations containing SPSA have been investigated by photo-differential scanning calorimeter(Photo-DSC). The results showed that the formulations with SPSA can be photopolymerized regardless of solely irradiated under UV irradiation. These results lead us to consider that hydrogels containing SPSA show promising perspectives in the application of contact lenses. |
