Although electrospun nanofibers have versatile utility as numerous biomedical devices, nanofibers composed of hydrophobic polymers are disadvantageous in terms of cell attachment and proliferation. To facilitate cellular infiltration and proliferation, we prepared electrospun nanofibrils and surface-coated the surface with two types of gelatin by layer-by-layer assembly. Electrospun PCL nanofibrous mesh is grinded into small pieces and hydrolyzed to nanofibrils (hPCL) with 1M NaOH. After hydrolysis, two types of gelatins (A(+), B(-)) are separately dissolved in phosphate buffer at pH 6.0. hPCL was sequentially dip-coated with alternating gelatin solution (A→B→A→B→A) to fabricate gelatin-multilayerd hPCL (Gel@hPCL) by electrostatic interaction. Association behavior of Murine fibroblast cell line was investigated with Gel@hPCL with various concentration of gelatin solution. High concentration of gelatin significantly enhanced viability and migration of the cultivating cells. |
