Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) show peculiar mechanical and electrical properties and as a result, the CNT-reinforced polymer nanocomposites have been utilized to enhance the strength, toughness, and durability of polymers. However, homogeneous dispersion of CNTs has always limited applications of nanocomposites due to aggregating properties of CNTs owing to van der Waals interactions between the nanotubes as well as high density of entanglements. Here we report a possible way to enhance dispersion of CNTs using hyperbranched polymer. Hyperbranched polyurethane and multi-walled carbon nanotubes were employed in this study. |
