제목 Synthesis of high molecular weight asymmetric star PMMA by ATRP
초록 A great deal of attention has been paid to asymmetric star-shaped polymers in which arm segments differ in either molecular weight or chemical composition because they are expected to exhibit interesting and specific properties originating from their hetero-phase structures in addition to chain branching. In this study, high molecular weight asymmetric three-arm star poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA), in which two arms have the same length and the other is different, was synthesized via atom transfer radical polymerization(ATRP). 3,5-(2’-bromo-2’-methylpropionato)phenol was used as the starting bifunctional initiator and ATRP of MMA was carried out with CuBr/PMDETA complex as catalytic system at 90℃. The molecular structure of asymmetric three-arm star PMMA was confirmed by SEC-MALLS analysis and rheological characterization.
