This study was conducted to develop an adsorbent capable of selectively removing radioactive Cs ions. We adopted Prussian blue (PB) to remove radioactive Cs ions. Cs ions can be selectively adsorbed to PB because those not only match the size of the lattice structure of PB, but also can be exchanged with the protons of water molecules present in PB. However, it is difficult to collect PB because it readily exists as colloids in water and could cause further contamination upon disposal. Thus, Mesoporous silica nanofibers (MSF) were used as templates to immobilize PB easily. In this study, we prepared MSF by electrospinning and treated MSF with 3-(2-aminoethyl)aminopropyltrimethoxysilane (DA) to increase the amount of introduced PB. As a result, we confirmed that 10.1 wt% PB was introduced into MSF and showed more than 97% Cs removal efficiency. In addition, MSF-DA-PB can be adsorbed and desorbed for recycling. |
