This study manufactured polymer electrolyte membrane from fluorinated polymer of FEP through grafting of styrene monomer onto FEP polymeric matrices under electron beam irradiation followed by sulfonation, which added sulfonic acid group (SO3H) onto polymer chains. And also,this study examined characteristics of electric power generation under several operating conditions using membrane electrode assembly, which consisted of two electrodes with platinum catalyst and polymer electrolyte membrane manufactured. Main experimental factors for manufacturing the polymer electrolyte membrane were dosage, grafting temperature and grafting time. To optimize these factors, various experimental conditions were investigated, comparing the performance of membrane with Nafion membrane commercialized. In which the features investigated were IEC, IC and methanol crossover of polymer electrolyte membrane as fuel cell membrane. Main testing contents of fuel cell were operating temperature, methanol concentration, stability of fuel cell membrane under several loads. |
