Poly(amic acid)(PAA) nanofibrous non-woven mats were fabricated by electrospinning of PAA solution (viscosity: 87000 cP). Considering of spinniability by changing of applied voltage, spinning distance, spinning rate, the optimum electrospinning conditions were determined by using a scanning electron microscope. Isothermal heat treatment of the electrospun PAA nanofibrous mats is carried out at 200°C electric oven for 10, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180, 210 and 240 min, respectively. It is observed that imidization is occurred sufficiently after 30 min heat treatment at 200°C determined by FT-IR and TGA measurement. There is no significant change from FT-IR data for the samples of more than 30 min heat treatment. Weight loss of imidized mats for 30 min heat treated is negligible for 1 week incubation at 200°C. From these results, it is known that imidization of PAA nanofibrous mats for 30 min at 200°C is enough for application to filter media operated in high temperature (200°C). |
