Ionic liquids (ILs) have been widely studied due to their exclusive properties such as high stability, transparency, and low vapor pressure. Recently, the heterocyclic rings of ILs have been diversified, to enhance performance of organic electronics for various application. In this study, we designed the cation structure of ILs to explore its effect on the electrochemical property of π-conjugated polymers (CPs) in self powered-electrochromic windows. A self-powered electrochromic winodw (ECW) system was fabricated with π-conjugated polymers as a EC layer and a hole transporting layer of the photovoltaic layer. Using iodine free electrolytes, the self-powered ECWs showed a larger transmittance change with enhanced photovoltaic properties. The optimization of solution composition and mechanism for improved self-powered ECWs will be presented. |
