The Effect of Binary Solvent on the RDX Crystal Morphology |

The effect of solvent on the RDX crystal morphology was studied from different binary solutions. A solvent can have a large influence on the crystal morphology. The shape of the crystals is one of the determining parameters of the packing density which is a function of sensitivity. When it specifically interacts with certain RDX crystal faces, the solvent can substantially change the morphology of RDX crystals. The relationship between the ratios of antisolvent to solvent and RDX shape was presented and discussed. The different RDX crystal morphology was identified by comparing the results with XRD, SEM and optical microscope. The cooling crystallization experiments were performed to determine experimentally the morphology of RDX crystals grown from the binary solvents. |
