The acrylic copolymers, which were used as base polymers for the pressure sensitive adhesives, were synthesized by solution polymerization of 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, ethyl acrylate, lauryl glycidyl ether, glycidyl methacrylate and acrylic acid with 2,2’-azobisisobutyronitrile as an initiator. Various kinds of acrylic copolymers were prepared by using various different contents of epoxy-type crosslinking agent (0, 0.5, 1.0, and 2.0 phr) and various molar ratio of glycidyl methacrylate to lauryl glycidyl ether (0.9:0.1, 0.7:0.3, and 0.5:0.5). The acrylic copolymers played a crucial role in controlling the wettability properties of adhesives on thin silicon wafer. The effect of acrylic copolymer chain length on the wettability and the adhesion properties of acrylic copolymer adhesives were also studied. |
