In this work, ultrafine fibers of poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) were fabricated via electrospinning method, and then they were adopted as optical waveguide materials. In order to enhance mode excitation efficiency, CdSe/ZnS quantum dots were incorporated into PMMA, which is the core material for the waveguide. The spinning solution was prepared by dissolving quantum dots and PMMA in chloroform. The core-shell structured PMMA/PVDF ultrafine fibers were formed via facile one-step electrospinning method by using two concentric needles. The uniform morphology of PMMA/PVDF ultrafine fibers was confirmed by FE-scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Dispersion of quantum dots in PMMA ultrafine fiber was confirmed via confocal laser scanning microscope. |
