제목 Effect of rubber particle size on toughening behavior of rubber modified poly(L-lactide)
초록 Poly(L-lactide) (PLLA) is a well known biomass-based polymer that is biodegradable and biocompatible. However, in spite of many advantages as a biomaterial, it still has several shortcomings to be used in practical applications. Some physical properties need to be improved. In this study in order to improve the impact strength, PLA was blended with core-shell type particles, made up of a poly(n-butyl acrylate) (PBA) rubber core and a poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)/poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (PGMA) outer shell. PLA/core-shell particle blends were prepared by melt blending in a Brabender. The effect of the core-shell particle, in particular, the effect of the particle size and the addition of up to 20 phr on the mechanical properties of blends was investigated by UTM and Izod impact tester. The Izod-fractured surfaces were examined by SEM to study the fracture mechanism of the blends. In addition, thermal properties of blends were characterized by DSC and TGA.
