Polyurethane is a well-known polymer with good frictional resistance, superior elasticity and flexibility, and good chemical and thermal resistance. Thus polyurethane has been used in a wide variety of applications, such as foam, plastics, elastic fibers, paint, adhesive and materials for biomedical applications. Polyol and diisocyanate are the main ingredients to prepare polyurethane. In this study, polyol was synthesized from L-lactide, and it was further reacted with two types of diisocyanate compounds; aromatic and aliphatic. Chemical structure and thermal properties of L-lactide based polyurethanes were characterized by using H-NMR, FT-IR, DSC and TGA. |
