Effect of Cross-linking Agent on the Radiolytic Preparation of PFA-Based Membrane with Sulfonic Acid Group and Their Membrane Characteristics |

In this study, the effect of cross-linking agent content on the properties of poly(tetrafluoroethylene-co-perfluorovinyl vinyl ether) (PFA)-based membranes with sulfonic acid is investigated. The results indicate that the ion exchange capacity (IEC) slightly decreases with increasing DVB content, whereas the water uptake, proton conductivity, and methanol permeability of the membrane decreased greatly. The chemical stability of the prepared membranes in a 3% H2O2 aqueous solution containing 4 ppm of Fe2+ (Fenton’s reagent) was found to be significantly improved with increasing the DVB content. The results indicate that the cross-linked network membranes are promising as an application in a direct methanol fuel cell. |
