Anionic polymerization of ethylene oxide and its synthesis of ω-thiolated poly(ethylene oxide) using potassium thioacetate |
| 초록 |
Alkali metal alkoxides have been used as excellent anionic initiators to polymerize ethylene oxide resulting in living polymerization. In this study, we polymerzied poly(ethylene oxide) using n-butyl lithium and potassium tert-butoxide as anionic initiators. Living poly(ethylene oxide) was reacted with p-toluenesulfonyl chloride using dropping funnel under inert gas. The resulting polymer was further reacted with potassium thioacetate. Deacetylation of the resulting polymer in HCl/MeOH solution to obtain ω-thiolated PEO. In addition, we could also obtain ω-azide PEO from the reaction of the ω-tosyl PEO with sodium azide in DMF. In this presentation, we report the preliminary results for synthesis of chain end functionalized PEOs. |
